At it again...

In an attempt to cleaning out our fridge of left overs, we were more than excited to make another batch of pita pizzas. This time I decided to make mine a little healthier. I guess I was trying to make up for how much sugar I ate while making ... the previous post.

The man pita pizza(s):

or what I like to call "the all you can meat" pizza and the traditional pesto-chicken-spinach pizza (which he copied from me from our last experience). cool. whatever. my idea first.

The girl pita pizza:

what i like to call
"I just had a baby and were going on a cruise in 7 weeks" pizza
red sauce, spinach, tomato, corn, bell peppers, broccoli, asparagas, chicken,
and a little moz cheeeeeese! (oops)

Last Minute V-Day Treat

I needed to make a last minute V-day treat and came upon my mother-in-laws yummy recipe called Corny Pop Mix... Or something like that. I love it because it has sweet and salty all in one and I kid you not, I can finish an entire thing all by myself.

Find anything salty around your house (pretzels, cereal, ...)
Or you can use what we use...

2 bags of fritos (or one big bag)
1 big box of corn pops
2 bags popcorn
2 bags of white chips (not white chocolate)

Get two large mixing bowls.
Put one popped bag of popcorn in one and one in the other.
Put about 2/3 bag of fritos in one bowl and the same amount in the other
Put 1/3 corn pops in one bowl and same amount in the other.
Then melt one bag of chips on med-LOW (very important) and once it is liquid form, pour over "stuff" in one bowl. Mix well and pour onto wax paper to harden.

Do the same with the other bag into the second bowl.

I colored mine pink for Vday today :)
There you have it.
Put it in a big bowl for your get together and let them enjoy!
I promise you will have people looking at each piece wondering what is in it. ha!

This is what happens when you melt the chips too fast or on too high of heat. It starts to solidify and then you cant ever melt it again.

This is what its supposed to look like :)

Be very careful. You will want to eat the entire batch.

I suggest NOT making this for someone else, during lunch time, while you are on a diet.
Im just sayin.

Flashback Friday

I apologize for the blurryness, I didnt take it.

Holy smokes, I am hot!

Anyway,  My darling sister-in-law just had her darling little girl last week, Haven Celeste (cute name huh? love it!). It reminded me of the day Cason was born and how beautiful it was. That is actually a lie. As you can see by the picture, that is my barf bucket, I am hooked up to a million different IVs, I had to have oxygen, my make up was everywhere, I was swollen like a beached wale, and I was starving but could only eat ice chips. Not to mention the pains of actually having a baby and all the stuff from after the new babe has arrived. Its not pretty or fun. It was only beautiful in the sense that I was able to see the most amazing little miracle join our family. Beautiful in the way that I have never felt so close to my husband or my Heavenly Father.  That day was so hard but it was worth it and I would do it again in heart beat for the joy it has brought me ever since.

baby items that have made life a little easier

When I was pregnant, I wanted to know what to get and what not to get. I researched pretty much everything under the sun trying to educate myself on what was needed and what was not. You really dont need TONS of gear,  however, there are some things out there that I have reaaaallly appreciated in the last 6 months.

Diaper Genie:
Gotta have one. At the beginning when you have 15 million dirty diapers a day (Unless your baby is like Cason and only poops maybe once a week), it is nice just to have this little diaper shoot right next to the changing table and it keeps the smell in! Wonderful!

Dimming Lamp:
Wow, I had no idea this would be so awesome but I love it. I cant really explain why I love it other than it makes it not so dark :) Maybe its because Cason has insulation over his windows so his room is pitch black all the time, this makes it so its dusk or dawn in his room. I can make it any time of day in his room. ha! tricky tricky. and when I would get up in the night to feed, I could just turn it on a little with out blinding us.

These next two items were purchased because of Cason's health issues but I still recommend them.

Video Monitor:
Oh boy, why did I open this can of worms? BECAUSE ITS AMAZING! That is why!! My sister-in-law told me not to get it like a million times because I would want to look at it all day. Sometimes I do and sometimes I dont, ok? I got it when he was just a couple weeks old because he was majorly vomiting and sometimes (because laying on his back) he would choke on it. Also, There have been times that he will wake up and just play in his crib and not make a peep so I like that I can check on him with out going in his room. Also, he is a noisy sleeper so now I can just check and see if he is sleeping or awake and needs a diaper change or whatev. I purchased just the normal sound one before and hated it. Mainly because it sounded like another life form was trying to make contact through the static.  So my sis, my mom, and an awesome BabiesRus sale all chipped in on getting this for me.

Baby Mirror for the Car:
This was not a need, more of a want and I LOVE it. I got it mainly when Cason was projectile vomiting for the first few months of his life and we were traveling 10 + hours in the car. Sometimes he would ever so quietly vomit up everything and he would just be sitting in it in his car seat.  So I liked being able to check on him. Now that he doesnt vomit, he just likes to look at himself and I think the familiarity of the mirror always there in the car is comforting.

Baby Carrier:
I debated on getting one but I have never regretted it. I never thought I would use it that much but lately, with Cason's teething, he just wants to be held. Plus, he looves watching me do things so this makes it easier when I am mopping, vacuuming, doing laundry, or shopping and I dont want to have a stroller. I checked into allll the different kinds. Moby wraps seemed too hot for this desert weather of mine (and it was), other cheap ones would hurt my back, and finally I found a Bjorn on craigslist for 15 bucks. Yeaaa!

ExerSaucer:
aka, A.D.D. toy. Cason just started using this about two months ago and he LOVES this. He has a new toy whenever he wants and we put it right in the middle of the house so he twists and turns to see everyone and everything.  This makes cooking and doing my homework a breeze. He will look up at me and just smile and laugh and then go back to work on grabbing or eating something. Its fun to watch him figure out how to pinch or grab or move something. Plus, he loves standing and because of his torticollis he is not allowed to lay down so this is nice. and it stores flat under his crib.

Last but not least:

the BUMBO!!

This thing is wonderful. Since Cason has been alive, we have traveled to Utah twice, Oklahoma, CA three times, and Phoenix almost every weekend. I got a tray for it and it worked as a high chair up until we got a real one. You can put it anywhere and its totally portable. It helps them learn to sit and it helped Cason stay off his head (again, because of his torticollis). (no he was not posed for that pic)
What were some of your favorite baby items?
Why did you like them?
Did you try any of these items and hate them?
(I dont wanna know. jk).

...have this wish I wish tonight....

I really wish someone had taken out our trash one of the last 12 Mondays that we have been out of town because now its completely overflowing. Grosse.

I really wish my Christmas decorations were down. Self - get off blogger and do something about that.

I really wish I didnt have homework to do because I like just laying here on the floor, playing with my baby.

I really wish that Brad would send Michelle home. I guess it keeps people watching though.

I really wish I liked to cook... and eat chicken again. Thank you pregnancy for that.

I really wish people would stop bidding and TAKING high chairs on craigslist before me. That makes 4 high chairs now that I have almost taken home. Gr.
